I made vegetarian mee for a few of us. Alex tasted. Kang Xiang told me to keep at Ah San's house. So David placed the noodles inside Ah San's house. And off we went to play football.
Started off against the kids. There are 7 of them including Uncle Justin and Wee Zheng. We were down by 2-0. I became angry. I told all my teammates not to give the kids chances. They are not normal kids, they are talented. That fired us up and we won 4-3. With me scoring a simple goal.
Then the big guns came. We played just one match which lasted long.

Did I accidentally leave anyone out?
8 against 8. Game on.
I was playing as goalkeeper for Team A. Did the routine saves. Kang Xiang was everywhere. In defence and attack. Shyong Ming prefers to defend these days. He should be running down the flanks. Alex dictating play. With minimal effort, more brains. Nicholas playing well. Complimenting well with Alex in the middle. Winston's friend played well too. Knows how to play football. How Meng, after absent for so long, played too. He too wanted to taste my noodle. Jeff came and shows off with mesmerizing runs. One of those guys whose worth you seeing once a week.
It was raining with no thunder and lightning. We enjoyed every minute of it.
For Team B, Nazri, who is absent for almost 2 years made time for us. He also wants to taste my noodle. Javier's friend another good job done. Look at his accurate long balls. Ah San, again, is a smart footballer. Smoking a lot, yet fit to play at an old age. Wee Zheng linking well with his teammates. Should learn how Arsenal play since he supports them. Winston, the dangerous vulture, winning balls with his long legs. Improving. Javier with his Alonso shirt, those passes and long balls. Difficult to stop him. Uncle Justin can't be pegged down when he's with the ball. This guy defies age. David in a striker position. National Service had boosted his stamina.
MAN OF THE MATCH: ALEX TEO K S. It's all about the positioning. Who to pass at the right place and the right time. Not mind over matter. But brain over brawn. Alex's intelligence is equal to Batman. Of course, Batman doesn't exist.
So we had played and many of us assembled outside Ah San's house. I asked Ah San's little son where's the noodles. He said they are finished. All of us are disappointed. Ah San and his wife, daughter and son had finished my vegetarian noodles.

Alex may not be big but he has quick feet. Using intelligence over brawn. Kang Xiang defends very well. Wins headers with 99% accuracy. Wee Zheng yesterday showed he prefers to attack. Linking with the attackers. Shyong Ming nowadays like to defend. Winning balls. Keith is a dangerous winger. His shots are painful should the keeper save them. David is not afraid to take on opponents. Keeps on shooting. Ah San defends well with years and years of experience. Very good at heading the ball. Nicholas is a good midfielder. Has all the basic skills. Uncle Justin, like Ah San, is also experienced. Dribbles well but passes too.
Black Shirt Guy returns and played well. Passing the ball. Yellow Shirt Guy is a good passer of the ball too. Knows his positioning. Jeff is always full of energy. He runs and runs. Grey Shirt Guy is willing to play keeper. He gives a lot of effort too.
MAN OF THE MATCH: JEFF. He is trying to play like what's on the back of his jersey 'Torres 9'. Maybe even better.

Another fruitful and happy Saturday. The ground was muddy but we still played.
We started with the usual against the kids. Me, Alex, Kang Xiang, Wee Zheng and David won. I scored two goals.
The 2nd match is mixed. I counted myself in a team with all kids except for Shyong Ming and Uncle Justin. Amazingly, my team won 5-2.
The 3rd match is when the big guns arrive.

H8FC Street Soccer 30 November 2013
Me, Kang Xiang, Wee Zheng and David went all the way to our field with heavy posts and net. We cancelled our training, went home and played street soccer instead.
Here are the people who played street soccer on a wet Saturday afternoon...
Syahrein
Wee Zheng
Alex
Kang Xiang
David
Ah San
Ah Son's son
Cher Siang
Uncle Justin
We played a few 5-on-4 matches. But at the end we have a match against 3 Malay boys. Kang Xiang and I are forced to play for the 3 guys. The 3 Malay boys were losing 5-2. Then David switched placed with me and played for the other team. We beat the Malay boys 10-7.
I think it's a good idea to play street soccer if we can't play field.

The first match was against the kids. Kang Xiang told me and David to play for the kids. My team got thrashed.
I don't really remember the rest of the matches. Ah San's daughter brought along two female friends to watch us play. That boosted the confidence in some of us.
Man Of The Match: UNCLE JUSTIN. When he's with the ball one-on-one, he always manage to evade the opponent. Only crowding him will do. But then he had already passed the ball to an open teammate.
After the match we were treated to food by Ah San and his family. And we watched Everton vs Liverpool. I hope we have more female fans.

We started off with the kids and Alex vs me, Wee Zheng, David and Uncle Justin. The four of us won 7-4 with me getting two goals.
Then the big guns came. In the first match, two howlers from me gave the other team a 2-0 lead. We equalized 2-2. Then took the lead 3-2. They took over with a 4-3 lead. My team took the match to golden goal with 4-4. Ah San, playing for the opponent with a backheel ended the match 5-4.
We reshuffled teams in the 2nd match. Amazingly, I played goalkeeper again and kept a clean sheet. 5-0 my team won.
Last match my team won 5-4. So I played goalkeeper for three matches.
Man Of The Match: How Meng's friend. This boy can whip crosses low and high. Switching flanks. Very deadly shots. A true winger.

5 of us started. Me, Alex, Wee Zheng, David and Cher Siang. We won against a group of young boys. Winston and Kang Xiang joined. Nicholas came later. Few more unknowns join us. After the strangers left, we had a couple of matches among ourselves.
It's a good alternate to field. We had to cancel our field because we feared not many people would arrive. Wee Zheng suggested street soccer. We had a whale of a time.

H8FC Washout 2 November 2013
It was raining heavily. Only 4 H8FC players came and was hoping to play. Me, Alex, David and Cher Siang. We set up one goalpost and practised assists and shooting. Alex, David and Cher Siang took turns becoming keeper. It appears Alex won that contest.
I can head the ball for a shot now. My profile says 'Getting better'. These two words are oh so true. From these assessments, these are the best outfield positions for us...
Syahrein = Defensive midfielder
Alex = Centre midfielder
David = Right-winger
Cher Siang = Centre defender
Keith came but it's still not enough people so we cancel the session.
That's all folks!

It was 10 against 10. Game on.
The match was deadlocked at 0-0 for a very long time. Until Jeff broke it and placed Team B in the lead 1-0. Winston's 2nd friend equalized to make it 1-1. Team B scored two more and at half-time it was 3-1. We switched sides for the 2nd half. Took until dark to level and end the game at 3-3.
For Team A, I was ordinary as keeper. Wee Zheng did he could as defender. There was an incident when I tried to punch the ball and hit Wee Zheng's head instead. I couldn't apologize because my left foot was in pain as Wee Zheng's studs stepped it. Kang Xiang again defending really well. Javier's friend(Brazil) injured himself on his first day. Don't know if he will return. Nazri made a comeback and played as right-back. Winston's friend tends to stick with Winston's 2nd friend in the middle. Alex passing the ball around. David galloping down the right. Ah San played as centre-forward.
For Team B, Cher Siang did very well as keeper. Shyong Ming played defence this time. Javier's friend(Real Madrid) is good on his first day. Winston again effective in defence. Javier with his close control. Nicholas the complete midfielder. Uncle Justin good dribbling skills. Orange Shirt with #10 is class and composed in midfield. How Meng took advantage of the no offside trap. Jeff was really trying to be like what it's on the back of his shirt - 'Torres 9'.
MAN OF THE MATCH: JAVIER'S FRIEND(Real Madrid). This guy is a very good defender. We are short of defenders. If both these Javier's friends play regularly with us, we will have ample of covers as defenders. We see people come and go.

Did I accidentally left anyone out?
I think I did very good as goalkeeper. Saving difficult shots.
Alex scored goals again. They all saw Alex tried from distance and Q-S unbelievably saved.
Kang Xiang was masterful in defence. Showing he can use whichever side of his feet to clear balls.
David has only one thing on his mind with the ball. That is to bulldoze and score.
Wee Zheng with short passes.
Shyong Ming tends to prefer to play in the centre.
Keith enjoys running from the wings.
How Meng in the last match saved plenty of shots as keeper.
Uncle Justin is hardworking and needs support around him.
Ah San was good in defence.
Jeff was running amok. I accidentally hit his head trying to clear a corner.
Winston is improving with each Saturday along with his friend.
Chinaman did ok.
Nicholas also showing that he knows how to play football.
MAN OF THE MATCH: KANG XIANG. This guy will be bigger in the future. If any football legends see him play for his JC team, he might be called-up to Singapore Under-19. Knowing Q-S well may boost his chances.

Yesterday another round of fooball for us. Many people. We started off with the curtain-raiser. A match with the kids. Only 5 of us were there for this match. Against around 8 or 9 skilful kids. Cher Siang playing as keeper. Me as defender with Alex, David and Wee Zheng supporting them. We won 5-4 with me scoring a rocket with my new Adidas Questra boots.
Then we had another match with more people with my team winning 3-2.
A lot of people had arrived at this point. A match where I saved a lot as keeper but still lose 5-2.

Anyone accidentally left out?
Team A took an unbelievable 4-0 lead. For all my many saves, it amounted to nothing. Cher Siang was saving shots for Team A. New guy with red-shirt looks like one of my secondary schoolmate. Winston was digging here and there winning balls. Wee Zheng just stand in the right places and contribute with short passes. Javier with a masterful performance in midfield. Complimenting him well is Alex who used minimal effort but more brains. David again taking on defenders. Glen came in late but was dangerous in attack. Malay Boy #1 is a top striker.
For Team B, Nazri tried as right-back. Shyong Ming and Nicholas were doing emergency defenders. Once In A While Guy running down the left-flank. Jeff had an average game. Uncle Justin led the attack. Keith tried to score. Malay Boy #2 was denied by Cher Siang many times. Daniel? Rather not talk about it.
MAN OF THE MATCH: ALEX TEO KANG SHENG. His ability to dictate the midfield is one of the reasons why Team A won. Less energy, more smartness. Right time, right place. And scored a lot.

H8FC Training 14 September 2013
Sorry for the late update guys. I'm tired because of work.
Last Saturday another good games of football for us. We started off with adults vs kids. A notable incident is when this little boy whom I say is their best player went for the ball. I was off my line as keeper and accidentally punched his face. I really, really felt bad about it. I wanted to punch the ball but punched him. He was full of guts going for the ball with his head.
He was in agony on the ground and I nursed him. I massaged his forehead and eyes. After 5 minutes, he got up again full of running. Penalty was given. I just let him score.
Then another incident where we played another 5-goals match. Keith was closing in on goal. I was keeper. Our SHINS clashed. I guess I'm the only one who wear shin pads. I felt pain but managed to shrug it off. I looked behind and saw Keith in pain. I was surprised. And his shin became like a tennis ball. Because I wear shin pads and he doesn't, his shin hit a plastic plate. So everyone, please buy a pair of shin pads. You may regret it if you get injured and can't play for a long time...maybe for life.
Another incident also regarding Q-S is my high foot at Glen. The other guys told me that was very high. Well I was playing keeper, and I had to clear the ball. I have no intention to harm Glen. Thank God I didn't hit him. He's very muscular and he can place me on the shelf longer than a hospital stay.
Well here are the unofficial Hougang 8 players who played yesterday...

MAN OF THE MATCH: GLEN. All fired up. If girls thinks it's a treat to watch Q-S, Glen stole the show.

6 of us started in a 3-on-3. The team with me, David and Cher Siang won 5-4. Then we played another match when more people came. I think this ended 3-3. Last match there were two halves. 1st half my team leading 5-4. The match ended 7-7.
When we switch to standard goalposts, we need a goalkeeper who's used to that. Maybe we should ask Tang Yao to come back? Me and Cher Siang or anyone else are not trained for standard goalposts. We also need defenders. We are very lacking in that department. It seems the majority of us are midfielders. Those two Malay boys, though they are rowdy, they are really good finishers. If they keep on playing with us on Saturdays, I will rope them in in the future. Yes we may not like their antics, but we need them to score goals.
Man Of The Match: David Teo Kang Wei. This guy scored plenty of goals yesterday. Was like a machine gun on fire. Serving National Service has turned him into a pumped-up animal who gobble up goals.

We tried to unlock the cabinet Ah San placed outside to take out the nets. They cannot unlock it even with the key. So I tried to be clever and used a tissue paper to open with the key. The key broke.
So Ah San used a saw to open the cabinet. Took around an hour.
We played two five-goal matches. The one that stood out is a 5-1 victory for Team A.

Did I accidentally left anyone out?
Amazing match. Team B took the lead 1-0. I did average as defender. Cutting off the supplier Ah San a few times. Wee Zheng contributed with his short passes. Winston knows how to win the ball. Nicholas another superb showing as midfielder. Chinaman played a simple game. Uncle Justin did ok for today. Alex using brains more than brawn. Malay Boy(medium size) did very well even scored goals. Keith can play striker or either wings.
Kang Xiang should play outfield for Team B but noone else wants to become keeper. Winston's Friend had improved since last we saw him. Javier controlling the midfield. How Meng's friend is a good winger. Unique long passes that's low on the ground. Shyong Ming rather quiet just being in the central area. How Meng should play keeper and let Kang Xiang play out. Higuain Guy is new and best moment is hitting the crossbar. Daniel doing a little better as striker compared to the past. Malay Boy(small size) was on his debut. Ah San was man-marked by me.
MAN OF THE MATCH: Me. For narrowing the angles of Ah San and the opponents.

H8FC Training 24 August 2013
On this day we started off with a 3-on-3 match. Then two Malay boys joined us and it's 4-on-4. Nazri, who disappeared for a very long time, made his comeback. For today, I saved many shots.
Winston brought in 2 guys. One of them with the 'Save Water' t-shirt, I remembered he joined us once a long time ago. Then there's 7-on-6 matches.
Alex, who's a loyal deputy to me, unfortunately twisted his ankle. Nobody tackled him. He moved and fell on the bumpy ground.
Shyong Ming is quiet as usual. Anyone who try to question him why he doesn't talk, I'm sure he will flatten the guy down.
Keith, again dribbling. His shots are damn hard. I saved a few of them and they are like punches.
Our CEO Ah San is enjoying his life. Cracking jokes and playing well.
Glen came in towards the end. Showing off his abs.
Nicholas again is the complete midfielder.
Daniel, our striker, has improved a lot. When we switch to standard field, he is going to score a lot for us.
David also did well. Scoring every Saturday. Even scored a low diving header.
Chinaman also came. He had a normal game.
The last match, my team already won 5-4. But they extended and we lost 9-7.
Winston had an ok game. His long legs are useful for winning the ball. His two friends who came did well. The 'Save Water' guy did extremely well. The other guy also did good, scoring goals on his debut.
Man Of The Match: Save Water Guy. This guy's positioning without the ball is intelligent. When he's with the ball, he passes to the right people. Very few misplaced passes. Amazing how I saved a couple of his shots. But his finishing is deadly. If I'm a manager, I would place him just behind the striker.

Is Q-S better as a defender or goalkeeper? We played many 5 goal matches yesterday. The first match I played goalkeeper all the way and my team lost. I do saved many shots but my teammates, not one of them want to stay as defence. The 2nd match, I played goalkeeper and defender and we lost.
The 3rd match my team won 5-0. And I played defender. It was 6-on-6 and this is the team who won.

I'm not going to mention the opponents to save face.
I'm just an assistant in defence. Ah San is the master. Standing side-by-side with him in defence is an honour. David and Alex biological brothers team-up well in midfield. Keith was there to compliment them. I see so many chinks in armours of the opponents in this 5-0 drubbing.
The last match we won 5-4 with me playing keeper after we were down by 2-1.
MAN OF THE MATCH: David Teo Kang Wei. Boosted with energy as he is a NS man, he bulldozed himself to a few goals.

We start our football with a few of us against many kids. With a middle-aged man playing for them too. The score was 3-3. The kids are really skilful.
Next match my team lose 5-4. I played goalkeeper then switched to outfield when my team were losing 3-0. We managed to claw back at 4-4. But lose by Golden Goal 5-4. The match took quite a long time to end.
The last match we were down by 4-1 with me playing as goalkeeper. Most of us would just give up and give away the 5th goal. But I don't quit as keeper. I kept on saving shots. My team reduced the deficit to 4-4. Another Golden Goal which was scored by Shyong Ming and we lost.

My Man Of The Match this week is a man who is well past his prime. I don't know how he smokes a lot and is still fit considering his age. His passes are accurate. He is the best header in our team alongside Kang Xiang. His overall game is being in the right place at the right time. He is our CEO AH SAN.

H8FC Street Soccer 8 August 2013
Eight H8FC players played. We played a lot of 4-on-4 matches.
Let me point out all eight players' brightest moment...
Syahrein - Saved two really hard shots back-to-back as goalkeeper.
Alex - Scored the winner in a match locked at 4-4.
Kang Xiang - Ran from defence to attack and scored.
Shyong Ming - Blasts the ball fast and hard to score.
Keith - Anticipated a ball from me as goalie and finished it off with a goal.
Nicholas - Beat me as goalkeeper few times.
Wee Zheng - Thanks for the popcorn.
Cher Siang - Scored from right-back position.
Q-S fans may crowd the restaurant tomorrow. I will survive.

The afternoon starts with 6 core players against skilful small kids. We won 6-5. It's difficult to win the ball from kids shorter than you. I was playing defender. Had two assists. I also dribbled down the left-wing and tested the keeper from distance. I guess we gave the kids chances and they took it. Cher Siang keeper, me defender, the Teo brothers midfield and Wee Zheng I don't know what's his position. Uncle Justin joined later.
The 2nd match my team won 3-2. More people joined in like Javier, Glen, our CEO Ah San, Nicholas, Daniel and Keith. That Chinaman arrived at around 6 45pm again.
The 3rd match I made a mistake of choosing to play defender. My team lost that match 5-2. Last match is the main event...

I did well with many saves. Ah San was outstanding as defender. Kept on asking me is he a good defender. I answered yes 30 years ago. Nicholas was rumoured that he was a school player. I believe that. Uncle Justin again showing his turning skills. You people have to observe Alex's positioning without the ball. Glen, without his shirt showing flat abs, played well. Daniel had improved tremendously as a striker.
Cher Siang knows the basics. Kang Xiang again fast with stamina. Chinaman came when Team A had a huge lead, helped himself to a consolation goal. Wee Zheng...well you all decide. Javier with his close control play. Keith took advantage of no-offside by getting on through balls. David was one of Team B's players who had many shots on target. Incredibly ridiculous as it is, those shots by Team B players hit both sides of the posts many times. It appears lady luck is smiling at Q-S.

H8FC Training 27 July 2013
Explosive day today. We started with a 5 on 4 match. Cher Siang was willing to play keeper. I was given a rare chance to play outfield. My team were star-studded with Kang Xiang, Alex and Shyong Ming as the other 3. The other team had 4 players - a new Chinese guy, Uncle Justin, David and Wee Zheng. Convincing win for us as we had one more player.
Then more people came. We played three gruelling matches. I was playing goalkeeper most of the times. Chris, the Singaporean Filipino, came back after a long absence. There was a debut for a Chinaman towards the end. Nicholas plenty of skills came later. Winston and his friend arrived too. Indian/Bangla guy played too. Glen again played without his shirt.
When I name the man of the match every week, I look for all-round performance. I guess this guy had won Man Of The Matches the most throughout this blog. Always connect with headers, excellent stamina and his reading of the game is very good. He knows how to utilize the ball even when the ball is not on the ground. Followed my advice and now a starter in his college team.

Daniel - Had improved a lot as a striker.
Javier - Close control is good.

Did I miss anyone out?
This match really touched me. The team I'm in Team A were down 3-0 with a straight hat-trick by Daniel. We clawed back to 3-2. Even when they scored again to make it 4-2, we didn't give up. We levelled the game at 4-4. We were finally beaten by a Golden Goal scored by Alex.
I did very well as goalkeeper. Saved more than conceded. Botak Uncle is slowly rolling back the years. I don't know what tonic Cher Siang drank to become a solid defender. Kang Xiang is an all-round defender. If TNP invites me to another party, I may recommend him to a national coach. Winston knows how to win the ball. Uncle Justin did averagely well. Nicholas can play football. David plays physical football.
For Team B, Ah San showed skills, knows his football. Wee Zheng had a few good touches. Javier likes to hold the ball before releasing it. Alex get into good positions, can spread the ball with little backlift. Shyong Ming plays supporting role and helped himself to a goal. Indian/Bangla guy made another once in a while appearance. Keith enjoys running on the flanks. Daniel reached a milestone by scoring a hat-trick.

H8FC 5(Keith 2, Uncle Justin 2, Nicholas 1) Irfan's Team 1
It was a Saturday afternoon. We had played matches against ourselves. We were happy and contented. Until 6 very professional evil guys came...*satanic heavy metal guitar sound*...
So 11 brave soldiers from H8FC stepped up...
GK - Cher Siang
LB - Syahrein
CD - Kang Xiang
CD - Tall Uncle
DM - Wee Zheng
CM - Alex
CM - Uncle Justin
AM - Shyong Ming
LM - Nicholas
RM - Indian/Bangla Guy
ST - Keith
Those bad boys came in after we had used up a lot of energy. There were 6 of them and we gave them 3 Malay boys. 9 against 11? Still on because they are school team players. So it's fair and square.
Cher Siang did well as goalkeeper. I, playing at left-back, cut off a few of their attacks. Kang Xiang is now on par with them as he too is a school player. Tall Uncle showed class as defender. Wee Zheng gave all he got. Alex is used to the big stage though he was not a regular in his JC days, vital assists. Uncle Justin stuffed in two goals, very good player. Shyong Ming is not afraid to stick his boot winning balls from real professionals. Nicholas can play scoring one too. Indian/Bangla guy has all the tools to play football. Keith is very dangerous, running behind their last defender and helped himself to two goals. Winston, who was subbed by Shyong Ming, won the ball well and left after we were leading 2-0.
Our 'better' opponents played all-out attack. One interception, counter-attack and we score 5. Laugh some more.

Ah San, Uncle Justin, 2 Malay boys, Javier, Winston, How Meng and Tall Uncle came in in the 2nd half.
Tang Yao was giving orders like an Army general. Kang Xiang did plenty of running. I win headers a few times. Cher Siang plays like he wants to kill people. Nicholas tends to move center. Keith helps himself with a goal. Wee Zheng wins balls and pass to the right people. Alex compliments Wee Zheng well in the middle. Shyong Ming opened the scoring with a well-taken goal. David helped out in the build-up to the goals.
Ah San came in the 2nd half and did well as a striker. Uncle Justin doing his stuffs also scoring a goal. The 2 Malay boys also got a taste of the match. Javier well composed, holding the ball and releasing it at the right time. Winston digging to win the ball. How Meng spent a little time playing. Tall Uncle played as striker.
Our opponents consist of 4 guys who are my colleagues. They sure know how to win the ball. Even playing in an away ground, they showed no fear. Overall, a healthy match for H8FC.

ST - Yellow shirt Malay boy
Did I miss anyone out?
Team B went 3-0 up. I was doing well as keeper. Cher Siang with brute force. White shirt Malay boy did well. Though he is very young, he clears danger with long balls. Botak Uncle is slowly rolling back the years. David again rampaging down the right. #14 had an excellent debut. Positioning well on the left. Keith with his Gareth Bale style of play. Irfan's sidekick proves he can play without Irfan helping himself to a goal. Black shirt Malay boy and Yellow shirt are quality strikers.
Team A had Uncle Teo in between the poles as keeper. Kang Xiang had a good game as defender moving up and down. Wee Zheng had a normal game. Jeff played hard with all those dribbles and winning the ball. Nicholas containing in the middle. Uncle Justin linking up well with his teammates. Alex pulling the strings. Malay boy with spectacles had a quiet debut. Shyong Ming prefers to stay in the middle winning tackles. Glen came in in the middle of the match. Ah San very dangerous for his age. I saved one of his bullet headers which stabbed my heart.

Team B is well organized at the back with Syahrein blocking the supply and shooting range of Irfan and his sidekick. Botak Uncle, Ah San, Nicholas and Wee Zheng defended stoutly. New guy with spectacles scored on his debut. David should be an out-and-out striker. Keith prefers to dribble.
Shyong Ming did very well. One long-range screamer and scoring the winning goal. Alex dictating play positioning in the right places. Malay boy with red shirt did ok. Their awesome foursome of strikers Desmond, Jeff, Irfan and his sidekick were nullified by the five-men defence mentioned in the previous paragraph.

An all-out attacking Team A paid off. With Tall Uncle and Cher Siang like castles in a chess game, staying behind and let the rest attack, Team B are annihilated. Shyong Ming was happy to win balls and pass it. Ah San played like a man who wants to protect the integrity of his wife and daughter. Which he did in splendid fashion. Malay boy with black shirt, Daniel and Botak Uncle were providing the ammunition. Obviously, Irfan and his sidekick did a Batman and Robin on me.
For Team B, all the saves I made were pointless. Kang Xiang cannot handle the army of strikers Team A had. Nicholas made efforts to come back and defend. When dealing with attacking teams, there must be four defenders. None of the rest volunteered to be the mainstay four at the back. And there must be at least one striker in front. Half-time it was 5-1. We lost 6-1 full time. The only positive thing I see in Team B is that we get our act together in the 2nd half with my humourous but effective pep-talk. But it's already too late.

H8FC Training 20 April 2013
20 people played today. Here are the summaries...
Kang Xiang - If Terry Pathmanathan is watching and invites Kang Xiang for a trial, I hope he picks him for the national team. Knowing Q-S may help a lot. MAN OF THE MATCH.
Alex - Accurate long-range efforts. Should take all the corners and try to bend towards goal than people's heads.
Shyong Ming - He should play behind the two strikers. Winning the ball and pass.
Wee Zheng - Has anyone seen this guy angry before? He can still smile when his team is losing.
Syahrein - I have no one day rest in a week at all. 6-days week and football. I think I did averagely well yesterday.
Tang Yao - Trying to chop down a small kid? Our Hulk says,'Dribble. Don't want to pass. Must teach him a lesson.'
David - I guess he should just switch to striker.
Malay guy with specs - Reminds me of me when I was in secondary school. Knows basic stuffs about football.
Malay guy with red shirt - Knew this guy during the street soccer days. He is quite good.
Malay guy with purple shirt - Very good winger.
Malay guy with orange shirt - Links up well as an attacking-mid.
Kang Xiang's friend - Played well as a winger.
Keith - Should stay at the wings and deliver ground crosses.
Chris - Skilful player. If he too chosen for the school team, H8FC can be a non-S League feeder club for the national team.
Daniel - Must learn how to shoot through books or video.
Nicholas - The complete central midfielder.
How Meng - Needs to choose between playing striker or goalkeeper.
Ah San - Almost all his touches are accurate.
Botak uncle - Needs more games if he wants to roll back the years.
Uncle Teo - Alex's, David's and Kang Xiang's father played as goalkeeper.

What a match. What a match. I did well as keeper. In the final moments of the match when it was tied at 4-4, I did all I could to prevent Team A from getting the winning goal. Saved one-on-ones from David and Shyong Ming. Cher Siang surprisingly did well with those no mercy tackles. Keith played out of position but did good as a defender. Winston knows how to win the ball by digging, even against skilful players. Alex and Nicholas combining well in the middle of the pitch as playmakers. Kang Xiang's friend is a brilliant winger. Blue shirt save water guy linking well with the rest, could be a spy because we never saw him before. Red shirt Malay guy is a feeder for the striker. #44 is a school player from a top school team. Enough said.
For Team A, Kang Xiang again proving why he is selected for the school team with my advice since long time ago. Wee Zheng another average game. Malay Uncle's son need more games. Malay Uncle can read the game well. Uncle Justin almost cannot be stopped when he is with the ball. David tearing up defences by galloping down the right-wing. Shyong Ming has speed so he should use this to snatch balls. Tall Uncle needs people who can cross the ball to him properly. Ah San again a wise man who knows his football. Daniel should shoot from a closer range.

For Team A, Indian Beckham Boy is just starting his football passion and should be given time. Wee Zheng tried as he could defending. Nicholas is a threat at left-mid. David is on-form rampaging through the right-mid. Ah San really played well. Malay Boy #2, well-trained and play with skill. Daniel finished up a few goals.
For Team B, I did well as keeper even with a hurt knee. Kang Xiang defended and attacked too. Alex showing different range of passes executed by different sides of his feet. Uncle Justin is doing surprisingly average. Chris dribbles around. Keith with the ball like a true winger he is. Malay Boy #1 with the black shirt is a very good player. We may see him in the S-League soon.

Before the start of the match, Tang Yao and Cher Siang had given up and say we will lose. A sportsman must have a winning mentality from the start even when the odds are stacked against him.
Tang Yao did what he had to do as goalkeeper. It's amazing how Syahrein can still walk after working from Sunday to Friday straight. I will still be there later today. Cher Siang and his brute force. Wee Zheng did win the ball few times. Javier shows his class and composure in the middle of the field. Keith a dangerous treat on the right-wing. Ah San, at an old age, still deliver the goods.
Kang Xiang moves up and down full of stamina. Nicholas reminds me of a young Paul Gascoigne. David is hungry for goals. Next match he kicked me out of frustration. Winston knows how to win the ball by digging on the opponent. Shyong Ming will get to the ball faster. Glen did very well on the right-wing. Daniel puts in effort.

The match went see-saw. Team B was one-man short. Syahrein was rolling back the years being an overlapping left-back. Even scored a goal. Indian Beckham boy is one for the future. Alex with another class showing as playmaker. Winston did ok. Uncle Justin again twisting and turning. Javier went home early with injury. Ah San took over and played really well.
Tang Yao tried his best as keeper for Team B. Wee Zheng with simple passes. Glen again with his Shaolin Soccer moves. David creating havoc at the right midfield. Shyong Ming was deadly and scored from way out to beat me as keeper. Team B went all-out attack in the later stages of the game. Glen, David, Shyong Ming and Daniel combined well. I was made to look like a fool at left-back when 3 Malay Boys do triangle passes on me. Wee Zheng did well to benefit his teammates. Alex instrumental as playmaker. David played intelligent football too linking well with his brother Alex. Javier is the real deal. Totally dominate the midfield. Shyong Ming had an excellent game and helped himself with 2 goals. Kang Xiang again running all over the pitch and winning balls. How Meng will remember this day forever with a hat-trick. Ah San came to replace me when we were 5-1 up. Did I accidentally leave anyone out?
This is a really good match. With experts like Ah San, Kang Xiang, Keith, Uncle Justin and Indian/Bangla Guy, Team A was sure to win. Syahrein doing good as goalkeeper with a few vital saves. Ah San masterful in defence. Kang Xiang goes up and tracks back often. Keith had a quiet game but scored the 6th goal. Wee Zheng scored the first goal and tried his best. The stylo-milo Jeff running riot. What an audacity he's wearing the latest Chelsea jersey with 'Torres 9' at the back. David intelligently placing himself on either flank and scored 2 goals, 1 a penalty.
Uncle Justin is a thinking footballer who has almost no weakness. Blue Shirt Guy is a Sunday football person who came to spy on the Saturday people(we). He scored for Team A and also Team B when he swapped sides in the 2nd half. Indian/Bangla Guy is another good midfielder. Daniel scored with a header. Malay Whitley Boy did ok.
For Team B, Tang Yao saved shots. Tony running in the flanks. How Meng taking on defenders. Cher Siang again with brute force. Arsenal Malay Boy needs more games, so as Red shirt Malay Boy. Alex is always on the centre of the pitch directing play. Nicholas compliments him well. Shyong Ming roaming about to support the attackers. Glen quite quiet on this day. Chris, our best player, returned after a long absence. Syahrein prevented this deadly player from scoring. Black shirt Malay Boy scored twice. One from an offside postition. The other a header to the far post.
Thank you everyone for another brilliant afternoon of football.

H8FC Training 5 January 2013
I wasn't around yesterday. This match report is brought to you by Kang Xiang...
Today was a very sunny day and 16 handsome guys played football @ Buangkok Stadium. This post was written because Hougang8’s main editor was absent for this session due to work.
Here’s what happened today:
MATCH 1:
Hougang8 5-2 Small kids with Kang Xiang and Tang Yao
…….. The small kids were just running around aimlessly but at least we managed to found some talents/unpolished gems.
Man of the Match: Raheem Sterling(Red shirt small Indian boy) - Not bad for his age. Would soon be able to join us and play football.
MATCH 2:
Team A 0-2 Team B
Team A (1-1-1-1-1)
GK - Tang Yao
CD - Cher Siang
DM - Da Pang
CM - Nicholas
AM - Tony/ Ah _ _ _
ST - How Meng
Team B (2-1-1)
AM - Justin
CM - Alex
CD - David
RB - Jeff
GK - Kang Xiang
On papers, Team B looks set to win even though Team A had an extra man. The inability of Team A to control the midfield made them lose the game. With the likes of Justin and Alex running riot in the midfield, it is very difficult for Team A to defend and was constantly being attacked. However, Da Pang and Nicholas still tried hard to pass the ball around, but Tony simply couldn’t finish. As a result, Team A only registered 1 shot on target. We ended the game early as new people (Keith, Ah San, How Meng’s Friend-Han Yuan, Glen and Tall Uncle) arrived.
Man of the Match: Justin - His style of football is magnificent and it is very hard to snatch the ball from him while he is dribbling. Crossing the ball nicely, good control and wonderful finish.
MATCH 3:
Team A 4-2 Team B
Team A(4-1-2-1)

Team B lost due to a lack of defense when their LWB/RWB pushed up but our attacking midfielders do not track back and help to defend. When Tall Uncle arrived later in the game, Team B found it even more difficult to score as Tall Uncle defended brilliantly with Ah San. With players like Keith, Ah San and Jeff who can bring the ball out from defense to attack, no doubt Team A won. David did well as lone striker, holding the ball, waiting for support and spreading it out. Da Pang conceded some goals from far but did well as a defensive midfielder. When Alex came out to outfield, Team B suffered more as they will have to deal with another attacking threat.
Man of the match: Jeff - Very dynamic player, converting defense to attack, earning himself 2 goals- a thunderbolt and a lucky goal.
After the match, Jeff and Tony left, leaving us with 7 on 7. The next match which was the final match was the real deal.
FINAL MATCH:
Team A 5-7 Team B
Team A:

AMR - How Meng
ST - David
Team B:
ST - None
LM - Nicholas
CM - Alex
RM - Keith
DM - Da Pang
CD - Tall Uncle
RB - Glen
GK - Octopus/ Cher Siang
Individual report card:
Tang Yao - Reacted quickly to stop many One-on-One situations as he was often exposed by his defense. Couldn’t do anything about most of the goals he conceded. Unfortunate to be caught out by Da Pang’s cross-cum-shot and an unlucky own goal.
Kang Xiang - Didn’t perform well today and was not composed enough. Made some misplaced pass and would be thankful that Ah San is there to cover him.
Ah San - Performed better than Kang Xiang as a CD other than his lack of pace. Good composure and sprays good ball to the flank. Sadly, he left early and cost the team to lose.
Justin - As usual, he reads the game well and did the usual stuff - Beating defenders, shooting, scoring, and picking out free man with his short and simple passing. Track back when needed.
Han Yuan - His dribbling and shooting technique is there but needs to work on his ball control. Needs to track back more and help the team to defend.
How Meng - Hat-trick hero. He scored a thunderbolt early in the game when Team A was dominating. He also did well as an attacking midfield but was recalled back into CD when Ah San left the game.
David - Surprisingly didn’t manage to score today but had a couple of assists including a self-proclaimed Steven Gerrard assist which he laid the ball for How Meng to blast it into the net.
Cher Siang- He played keeper most of the time, saving more shots with his knee/legs rather than his hands. Later on in the game, he came out and played CD and made a brilliant sliding tackle on David.
Tall Uncle - By just hearing his name, one should know what he is good at- Heading. Was constantly a threat in the air and made it hard for people to mark him with his height. He was solid as a CD, operating more like a sweeper which he whacks the ball up for his wingers to chase.
Glen - Was quite a disappointment in the earlier stage of the game. Claimed that he was hungry and had no energy. Later on, he unleashed all his energy and started to dribble past people.
Da Pang - Scored a goal with his cross-cum-shot. Was mainly defending and got up to support his teammates when they are attacking. He will surely do better if his chest wasn’t pain.
Alex - He was calm and intelligent with the ball, creating many chances for his team. Was allowed to run freely in the midfield as there was nobody in Team A’s central midfield area.
Keith - Also scored 3 goals with 2 being a composed finished through the keepers legs in 1-on-1 situations. He caused problems down the flank with his pace and technique.
Nicholas - Operated mainly in the central, more to the left side and made use of counter attack opportunities to pass the ball to his teammates to score. Should unleash the ball to his teammates quicker next time.
